Campus Bird Walk at Delhi Skill and Entrepreneurship University

Highlights from the Event

A campus bird walk at Delhi Skill and Entrepreneurship University, led by Dr. Tejaswi Kumar, offered participants a vibrant glimpse into the diverse birdlife thriving within an urban setting. Wetland edges and water bodies proved especially productive, with Spot-billed Ducks, Eurasian Moorhens, and Waterhens actively foraging, while a striking Black-winged Stilt added elegance to the scene. Domesticated geese and mallards mingled in the water, and flybys of egrets added to the dynamic atmosphere. Red-wattled Lapwings called loudly from open patches, completing a rich wetland assemblage.

The surrounding trees and campus greens hosted a variety of familiar and colorful species, including Indian Grey Hornbill, Rose-ringed Parakeet, and Rufous Treepie moving through the canopy. Smaller birds like Ashy Prinia, Tailorbird, and Chiffchaff kept the group attentive, while Red-breasted Flycatcher offered a delightful highlight. Bright flashes of Asian Green Bee-eater and Purple Sunbird added charm, alongside the steady presence of Mynas, crows, and Rock Pigeons. The calls of Indian Koel and the drumming of Coppersmith and Brown-headed Barbets enriched the soundscape, while Black Kite circled overhead. The walk provided a well-rounded and engaging birding experience, showcasing how urban campuses can support remarkable avian diversity.
